Welcome to the Artists' Portion of this year's Big Bang Challenge!

Behind the cut are the fifteen stories of Round Three for your consideration. Please post a comment with the NUMBER AND TITLE of the story you'd like to create art for. You can comment with your first and second choice in case your first choice is already claimed. A mod will reply to your comment to let you know which story you've been assigned. This is the final story-picking round.

Remember, artists, these stories are for the most part first drafts--they aren't polished stories yet. In effect, they should work as jumping-off points, or, if you will, really long prompts. Hopefully you'll be able to find a scene or a moment that jump-starts your creative energy!

If you already have been assigned two stories, please give the chance to someone else. If you have been assigned one or no stories, this round is open to you.

The artists' selection period is now over. There will be a reminder post for artists on March 15. Good luck, artists!

All of the stories picked in the first round of the artists' portion have been sent out! If you didn't get your art assignment after picking a story yesterday, then please email the mods.

Thank you for making the first round of artist picks successful! This is the announcement that the second round will happen tomorrow, Thursday, February 18 at 7 PM GMT. Here's a handy time zone converter so that you can find out when that will be in your area. For instance, it's 2 PM EST and, I believe, very early in the morning in Australia. (Don't worry, Australian fans: Round Three will favour your part of the world!)

If you haven't gotten a story yet, this round is for you. Also, if you missed your first choice during the first round, now would be the time to try. All assignments will be sent out the same day or the following day, and then there will be one final round of picks a few days later, with the time and date to be announced.

ETA: The second round of artist picks has NOT started. The second round of artist picks will begin later today, after the mods have confirmed that all first artists have received their assignments. An announcement will be made in the community at least ONE HOUR BEFORE the second round starts; no second round claims will be accepted prior to that. Currently, we anticipate that the second round might begin at 4 PM MST, 6 PM EST. Please watch the community for further updates.

ETA2: The second round of artist picks will begin at 4:00 PM MST, 6:00 PM EST, in a NEW POST. This post will have comments closed; please watch for the new post.

Hi, artists!

This is advance notice to let you know that all stories have been picked in the second round, and the THIRD ROUND of artist sign-ups will be beginning today at 12:00 PM MST.

We will not be accepting sign-ups earlier than noon, because we want to give all artists a few hours' notice. There will be another post when the round officially opens; any artists who comment before that time will be asked to request their story again, so it will be easier if you wait for the official go-ahead.

If you are an artist and you already have two stories, we ask that you do not sign up for a third story. We want you to have enough time to devote to the stories you already have, and we want to give other artists, with only one or no stories, a chance to catch up.

The third round will be the FINAL ROUND of artists' sign-ups.
